THE POTTERY OF LA MONTAGNE: A PAGE OF THE XIXth century INDUSTRY
The Pottery of the castle of La Montagne with an area of more than 900m2, classified as a Historic Monument (MH), is a unique monument in Europe.
It is an exceptional and authentic witness to a pre-industrial production site, fully preserved with the tools, molds and numerous adjoining utility structures (ovens, mixer, earthenware, settling tanks).
The authenticity value of this set, the production of which was exported throughout Europe, is immense and must be preserved.
Unfortunately its sanitary condition is alarming: the enclosure and roof are no longer insured, part of the interior floors have collapsed.
We must ensure the safety of users and the building as quickly as possible, safeguard La Poterie by ensuring that it is out of water and out of air and by consolidating the structural structure which is now in danger.
